  • CFE Opinion Statement on the review of existing legislation on VAT reduced rates

The CFE agrees with the intention of the Commission to find out how far the reduction of
VAT rates will have a positive effect on the labour market as well as on consumer behaviour.
The CFE also addressed the impact of levies imposed on wages and salaries which requires
a joint and sound strategy in order to reduce labour costs. Both VAT and social security
contributions have to be revised in order to combat unemployment and to foster the labour
    market.
